SEO | Google Ignores Keyword Meta Tag for Web Ranking. Google’s Matt Cutts has explained in a video on Webmaster Central that Google doesn’t make use of keyword meta tag when computing search ranking.

About a decade ago, search engines judged pages only on the content of web pages, not any so-called “off-page” factors such as the links pointing to a web page. In those days, keyword meta tags quickly became an area where someone could stuff often-irrelevant keywords without typical visitors ever seeing those keywords. Microsoft’s free security software to be released soon.Microsoft has told beta testers of its free antivirus software that it will release the final version to the public soon.

In an e-mail Sunday, Microsoft thanked beta testers for their help and said that the polished edition of Microsoft Security Essentials would ship “in the coming weeks.” Microsoft also urged beta testers to upgrade to the newest version of the test software to make the transition to the final as smooth as possible. Picasa gets updated to 3.5.Picasa gets updated to 3.5. Google’s Picasa has been given an update – to version 3.5. The photo manipulation software has been fluffed up with facial recognition and Google Maps functionality, as well as a whole host of bug fixes.

The facial recognition is called “Name Tags” and has been available in the web version of Picasa – “Picasa Web Albums” – for some time. It scans your photos and attempts to identify individuals through their facial features. It then gives you a list of clusters of photos featuring “unnamed people” that you can tag. Phone Calling Coming to Twitter. Twitter users on Thursday, for the first time, be able to make voice calls directly to each other through the microblogging service.
A new third-party offering from Jajah known as Jajah@call is expected to go into beta Thursday morning that will allow Twitter users to initiate a two-way voice chat with other users by typing “@call @username”–where “username” is someone’s Twitter ID–into any Twitter client. During the beta period, the company said, the calls will be limited to two minutes, but the company will evaluate that length during beta. However, it sees the two minute period–after which the call will end–as “the verbal equivalent of a tweet.” Read more…

Square Enix : New Wii in 2011

The CEO of game publisher Square Enix has said that he’s expecting a new Wii in 2011, and that motion sensing controls won’t be the success for Sony and Microsoft that the companies are hoping that they’ll be.

In an interview with the Financial Times, Yoichi Wada said that Nintendo’s next Wii will be released in two years time, with functionality more like that of the Xbox 360 and PS3 and “possibly a different controller”. Read more…
